Hammond 1555 FL Series Watertight Flanged Enclosures

The Hammond 1555F Series is a premier range of heavy-duty, wall-mountable plastic enclosures designed to protect sensitive electronics in harsh industrial environments and demanding outdoor applications. Featuring integrated, robust mounting flanges built into the base, these housings are engineered to withstand physical abuse while making wall installation straightforward and secure.

A key security feature of the design is that the enclosure interior remains completely secure after installation, as the lid screws are cleverly positioned behind the mounting plane. Every unit features a clean satin texture (RAL 7035 grey finish) with a smooth recessed surface on the lid, perfectly proportioned for the flush integration of membrane keypads, custom product labels, or digital overlays.

For maximum internal versatility, the 1555F series features pre-moulded standoffs in both the lid and base designed for #4 x 1/4 inch self-tapping screws. Internal features are maximised to accommodate printed circuit boards, heavy-duty inner panels, or DIN rails (with internal DIN rail mounting tabs moulded directly into the lid on all sizes except the "C" models).

To meet varying environmental and budgetary demands, the Hammond 1555F family is available in two high-performance material formats:

1. Polycarbonate (Ultra-Rugged Outdoor Grade)

Engineered for ultimate environmental defense, these enclosures are UV stabilised to prevent yellowing or embrittlement under direct sunlight.

• Environmental Ratings: Independently tested to meet stringent IP66, IP67, and IP68 requirements, alongside NEMA Type 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 12, and 13 ratings (making them fully submersible for temporary periods).
• Flammability & Certification: Grey polycarbonate models carry a superior UL94-5VA rating, while clear and smoked lid variants carry a UL94V-0 rating. They are cUL and UL 508A listed (File #E65324).
• Thermal & Impact Limits: Rated for an extensive operating temperature range of -40°C to +110°C with a high impact rating of IK08 (IEC 62262:2021).

2. ABS Plastic (General Purpose Indoor Grade)

An economical, lightweight alternative ideal for general-purpose automation and internal factory applications.

• Environmental Ratings: ABS variations are not UL listed but have been fully tested to meet IP66 dust and water-jet protection standards.
• Flammability & Performance: Moulded from general-purpose material carrying a flammability rating of UL94-HB.
• Thermal & Impact Limits: Offers a reliable operating temperature threshold of -20°C to +60°C with an impact resistance rating of IK07.

Premium Hardware & Sealing Mechanics

The exceptional watertight integrity of the 1555F series relies on a precise two-piece tongue-and-groove construction lined with a loose-supplied, high-temperature, UL-listed silicone gasket. This joint architecture provides a reliable seal against oil, dust, jet-sprayed water, and total submersion.

The lid is securely clamped down using included M4 stainless steel machine screws, which thread directly into corrosion-resistant brass bushings. This premium mechanical interface allows for repetitive assembly and disassembly during field maintenance without risk of stripping the plastic housing.
