RoHS 3 (EU 2015/863)

RoHS 3 (EU Directive 2015/863) adds Category 11 (catch-all) products and adds four new restricted substances - all phthalates. 

The four phthalates are mainly used as insulation plasticizers, and are on the REACH list of SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern). 

The expanded list for RoHS 3 is thus as follows:

Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) (0.1 %)

Extention exemption: Of note is that medical devices have a two-year extension to meet RoHS 3 compliance

WEEE

The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) regulations came into force in 2007. Its aim is to reduce the amount of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) ending up in landfill sites. This legislation makes 'producers' of EEE responsible for the environmental impact of their products, by financing the collection and subsequent treatment, reuse, recovery, recycling and environmentally sound disposal of WEEE for which they have an obligation. JPR Electronics will comply with these regulations in the most environmentally sound way by working in partnership with WeeeCare, operators of one of the UK's leading WEEE compliance schemes. All products covered by the legislation which were manufactured and placed for sale after 1st January 2007 must be labelled with the "crossed out wheelie bin" symbol. Customers who are replacing old equipment that is of equivalent type and function to a new product they are purchasing from JPR can return their WEEE to JPR for safe disposal and recycling.

BATTERY DIRECTIVE

Under the Waste Battery regulations, JPR Electronics offer a take-back scheme for all portable waste batteries. You can return your waste batteries to our warehouse in person (please do not post). Alternatively, you can find your local waste portable battery recycling facility at www.recyclenow.com Most supermarkets and shops that sell batteries will have collection bins for used batteries, and some town halls, libraries or schools may also have collection points.

REACH 

European regulation No1907/2006 “REACH” (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals), came into force on 1st June 2007. Its purpose is to regulate the use of chemical substances within the EU, particularly those substances of very high concern (SHVC's).

JPR Electronics Ltd are constantly monitoring the substances of very high concern SVHCs in our products and our customers are also encouraged to visit the following site to get the most up-to-date information on the current list of SVHCs: https://echa.europa.eu/candidate-list-table

JPR Electronics are fully aware of the legislation and committed to meeting our obligations under REACH as an importer and distributor of articles.

We have communicated with our upstream suppliers and to the best of our knowledge, none of the substances classified as SVHC's are contained within any of the products sold by JPR Electronics Ltd.

Furthermore, all products imported, distributed or sold by JPR Electronics are classified as "Articles" within the REACH regulations.

None of our products contain substances intended to be released under normal or foreseeable conditions of use, and therefore at the present time, JPR Electronics Ltd are exempt from any requirement to register under REACH regulations.

DRC STATEMENT

The Dodd-Frank Act seeks in part to stem the tide of violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by limiting the sources of financing for certain armed groups operating in the DRC.

There has been increased awareness of human rights violations in the mining of certain minerals from a location described as the "Conflict Region" which is situated in the eastern portion of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and surrounding countries.

The common derivatives from these minerals are:

• Tantalum
• Tin
• Tungsten
• Gold

JPR Electronics works closely with all our suppliers to ensure to the best of our knowledge we are not distributing any products that contain "Conflict Minerals" in their manufacturing processes.

As part of this process JPR Electronics demonstrates due diligence by informing all of our suppliers that by accepting our orders, they are agreeing to supply said products to JPR Electronics which do not use any raw materials in their manufacture that are defined as "Conflict Minerals".
